Welcome to the PAHA Youth Page
TO ALL PAHA YOUTH MEMBERS
For the year of 2009, I am asking all youth members to get at least 1 sponsorship in any amount of money to support the PAHA Youth High Point Program. I am asking each member to get a sponsor for the program instead of raising the nomination fees. If each member gets at least one sponsor for $5.00 or more we will be able to continue the level of awards we have been giving for the end of the year awards and maybe improve to a higher level of awards. So please get out there and see what we can raise. We have already received a generous $100.00 sponsorship from the NC PAHA District. Let’s see that balance grow. Fill out the Youth Sponsor Form below.
Thank You Denise Fuller, PAHA Youth Director.

Three local teens traveled 2800 miles to compete at the Arabian Youth Nationals held in Albuquerque, NM July 25-August 1, 2009. Kyra Knier of Mt. Joy, PA, Lucy Rutt of Denver, PA and Megan Young of Ephrata, PA represented themselves, the Pennsylvania Arabian Horse Association and Region 15 of the Arabian Horse Association very well, bringing home 3 Top 10s. This national event brings exhibitors from most of the 50 states, as well as Canada, this year drawing over 950 horses.
Kyra Knier ended up Top 10, 7th on the judge's cards, out of sixty-nine riders and Lucy Rutt slid and spun her way to a Top 10 in a field of twenty-one in Half-Arab Reining. She repeated her Top 10 in the Arabian/Half-Arabian Freestyle Reining. Competition was really tough and all of the competitors worked very hard just to qualify to compete there, evidenced by the fact that all of the competitors received a t-shirt that commemorated that they were Youth Nationals qualifiers.
Making the long journey to compete is only half the battle. They also had to raise almost $10,000 to have their horses shipped out to the show. Then, they needed to have the expertise and riding ability to be able to compete against the best of the best in North America.
All three girls turned in their personal best performances in Albuquerque. Competition was fierce, but the girls were mentally tough, putting forth their very best performances of their careers, when it meant the most. "I was very proud of all three girls. They outdid themselves and all their hard work and planning paid off," Kriss Phelps, trainer remarked.
